About the Death Busters

The Death Busters are the main enemies of SailormoonS, possibly the best season of the entire Sailormoon saga (I'm not biased. Honestly). They are made up of the Professor Tomoe, Kaolinite, Mistress 9, Witches 5 and (eventually) Pharoh 90.
A lot huh? Well here are brief character profiles and a few piccies to introduce you to what are probably the best Sailormoon villains of them all (I'm really not that biased!). For sound clips, movie clips and more images please see the multimedia section (yes, I'm one of those strange people who classes picture galleries as multimedia)
Kaolinite
Professor Tomoe
Eudial
Mimete
Tellu
Viluy
 Cyprine and Purichol
Mistress 9
Eudial
 | Eudial is the first of the Witches 5 to come along and is the opposite enemy of Sailor Mars. She invents a lot of gadgets including a gun that can extract pure heart crystals and her Fire Busters machine things (both of them). She uses her Fire Buster guns to deflect the Sailor Senshi's attacks and it works very well. Eudial has a short temper and loves to be in control, however when her plans go wrong she is prone to getting very annoyed indeed. Eudial is extremely dedicated to her job with the Death Busters and after overhearing a conversation that she may get replaced with another witch then she hooks up her computer to several others to find the owners of the talismans.
Eudial succeeds in locating the owners of two of the talismans, and even manages to extract and steal them. Then when Sailor Pluto comes along she witnesses the formation of the Holy Grail and is then caught up in a race with Sailor Moon to see who will take control of it. She loses and things just fall apart from there. She ends up blasted out of the cathedral window and is doomed from that point onwards (see below).
Eudial and Mimett appear to have an ongoing fued which usually takes the form of Mimete putting snails in Eudial's locker, scribbling on Eudial's photograph e.t.c. This is probably because Eudial works closely with the Professor which grates on Mimete's nerves. Since Mimete is next in line of the Witches, she is anxious for Eudial to step down and eventually is driven to fixing the brakes in Eudial's car (replacing them with snails). After falling out of the cathedral, Eudial gets in her station wagon and drives away-she drives over a cliff with a taped recording of Mimete in her ears and snails by her feet.
Eudial was in SailormoonS episodes 103-110

Mimete
 | Next in line is Mimete, a slightly ditzy bishounen otaku. Quite shrewd and calculating also, Mimete has a strong rivalry with Eudial and cannot believe her luck when her plan to 'assist' Eudial with her 'early retirement' actually works and she is appointed the next daimon egg planter.
However, she soon finds out that being the lead of Witches 5 is more than just chasing after bishounen-and ironically her death comes about when using one of Eudial's many inventions (a giant TV screen to project herself onto).
Mimete is not the most dedicated of people-she was even thinking of leaving Witches 5 if she won an idol competition. But she gets very upset when she hears that she will soon be replaced with Tellu and decides to concentrate on finding suitable targets for Crystal-snatching. (Doesn't last for long though ^_-) But still angry at the Professor's decision to replace her with Tellu, she steals Tellu's job and attempts to steal a Doctor's heart at Mugen Gaken (Infinity Academy). When she's warped into the giant TV screen to increase her power to kill the Senshi, Tellu comes along holding...the plug. After insulting her earlier, Mimete now begs Tellu for her life-it doesn't work and Tellu yanks out the cord, killing Mimete as well as the power.
Mimete witnessed a fair few important events in SailormoonS-she saw how Sailor Moon could use the Holy Grail to upgrade her power, and saw the awakening of Sailor Saturn (or at least, she was in that episode...)
Mimete appears in SailormoonS episodes 111-120.

Tellu
 |
After assasinating Mimete to be proved as a witch worthy of her job, Tellu arrives on the scene and begins to steal Pure Heart Crystals with the help of her Tellu Plants-small plants that when in full bloom have the power to take Pure Hearts. Tellu is a botanical expert and has created the Tellu plants to help her extract Pure Hearts, which she then begins to sell at the incredibly low price of 10 Yen to spread them around. When Setsuna cottons on to what is going on, she takes Usagi and Chibi Usa with her to defeat Tellu.
When they arrive, Tellu attempts to entangle them in vines, but Chibi Moon uses 'Pink Sugar Heart Attack' to deflect them (yes! Chibi Moon's attack did something halfway useful!) Tellu is furious and releases even more vines. Terrified that Chibi Moon can't stop them, Pluto allows herself to bound instead. A rose thrown by Tuxedo Kamen lets Pluto escape, and she faints.Sailor Moon uses the Holy Grail to transform into Super Sailor Moon, and destroys the individual Tellu plants with 'Rainbow Moon Heart Ache'. Tellu is understandably peed off.
Jabbing a syringe into the final Tellu plant, Tellu says 'You'll regret making me angry!' The teeny flower suddenly grows into a hideous beast of a plant that is attracted only to Pure Hearts and nothing else. Another rose from the Kamen corner releases all of the Pure Hearts that were stolen earlier, and Tellu makes a desperate grab for them as the monster roars...The Crystals confuse the plant and it captures Tellu herself, self destructing and killing her instantly.
Tellu is a scheming and determined witch-she was furious and not a little supicious when her job had been supposedly cancelled-and didn't hesitate to kill Mimete who was interfering with her plans.
However, after she died, Tellu left her Mugen Gakuen (Infinity Academy) student notebook behind-an important clue to the hideout of the Death Busters.
Tellu appears briefly in SailormoonS episode 120, but her main episode is episode 121.

Viluy
 |
Viluy was sent out by the Professor after Tellu's death. Viluy is also a student at Mugen Gakuen and is in charge of the science club there, being extremely talented at physics and computing (to give you some sort of idea of her intelligence, she scored the same as Ami did on a national exam) Viluy has some sort of rivalry with Kaolinite, who seems to be jealous that Viluy was selected to find Pure Hearts and not herself. Viluy drops 'hints' to Kaolinite that she should be working and not 'playing around with the professor'. Kaolinite is naturally very annoyed at this, and this is worsened by seeing how much attention Viluy gets from the professor. Viluy gets on well with Professor Tomoe, as she has a very good understanding of science, as does he. Viluy is a cold and calculating person-she belives only in physics. Her 'Mosaic Buster' attack is very strong (capable of practically freezing people still) and her nano-robots can be used as deadly weapons.
However there is one flaw in her knowledge. Viluy believes that understanding the human heart is not necessary to understand science. When they meet (at an exam held at Mugen Gakuen), Ami disagrees with Viluy over this causing Viluy to coldly laugh at her: 'You don't sound like a student who gets top marks Mizuno-san'. This belief will lead to her downfall.
After meeting with Ami, Viluy voices her suspicions to Professor Tomoe and declares that if Ami is a Sailor Senshi she will kill her. Viluy shows the professor her nano-robots-invisible, programmed computers that are contolled through a band on her wrist and are loyal to her commmand. She then uses these nano-robots to suck the Pure Hearts out of the examinees at Mugen Gakuen. Two students are not present at the exams though-Haruk and Michiru have hurried down to the basement lab to see what they can find. Ami and Viluy follow them, and a battle begins.
Viluy uses her 'Mosaic Buster attack' to freeze Haruka and Michiru and turns on Ami. Ami dodges the attack and transforms into Sailor Mercury-but Viluy sets her nano robots onto Mercury and they begin to destroy her (in Viluy's own words: 'The invisible nano-robots I programmed are stabbing into your body, and will eventually leave only your Pure Heart.') The other Inner Senshi then appear, but really don't do a lot except dodge Viluy. And finally-Haruka and Michiru break free of Viluy's attack and transform! Their attacks give Sailor Moon enough time to transform into Super Sailor Moon. With her power upgraded, Super Sailor Moon fires 'Rainbow Moon Heart Ache' at the band on Viluy's wrist. The nano-robots go wrong and accidently attack Viluy instead. She screams at them to stop, but Ami quietly says 'You are the one that said machines don't need minds.' The nano-robots destroy Viluy atom by atom as the Senshi watch on.
Viluy appears in SailormoonS episode 122.

Cyprine and Purichol
 |
These two witches are likely to be twins, but this is never really stated. Cyprine appears to be a ble to 'split' herself into her twin Purichol, so the twins theory seems to make sense (plus that the witches' team is named Witches 5 and numbers the twins as one witch). They are excellent teamworkers, and have the ability to absorb the Senshi's magic into their staffs, increasing their power. Cyprine can also control the minds of many people at once and remove Pure Hearts almost effortlessly but it's not known if Purichol shares these abilities. They seem almost patronizing of the Sailor Senshi's power, and are a little full of themselves. Cyprine has blue hair and Purichol has red hair-just so you don't get confused ^_^
In episode 123, Cyprine is using hynosis to bring the students of Mugen Gakuen to the building, where she takes their Pure Hearts. Only Neptne and Uranus seem able to withstand the mind control. Usagi and the others have sneaked into the school and are shocked at what they see-but Cyprine spots them and teleports them to her office. She greets them whereupon they transform. Sailor Mars aims her 'Burning Mandala' at Cyprine and blasts the windows out of the office, but jets of red and blue light hit her. The Sailor Senshi run to help but Venus turns and binds Cyprine in her 'Venus Love-me Chain'. Red light hits her too, and it is revealed that Purichol has also joined the battle. The space around the office distorts to a purple, shapeless landscape as the Senshi realise they're in real trouble.
Each of the Senshi try their attacks, but they're easily deflected. 'If we could seperate them...' says Mercury. She uses her Shabon Spray to cloud the area and the other Senshi deliberately fire their attacks to absorbed by the twins. Jupiter brings Cyprine down from behind. Enraged, Cyprine dashes after Jupiter to the dismay of Purichol. Mars bashes Purichol and the twins each run in opposite directions (it's quite interesting to see how the twins react to chasing the Senshi-Purichol giggles and is quite amused, while Cyprine is determined she won't be beaten) Cyprine get ready to fire all of their power and Jupiter and Mars, but at the last possible moment the Senshi jump out the way. The twins scream as their attacks hit each other and they are destroyed. That's the last of the Witches 5 down.
Cyprine and Purichol appear in SailormoonS episode 123.
Cyprine's name comes from the mineral Cyprine.
Purichol's name comes from the mineral Clinoptilolite (pronounced in Japanese as Ptilolite).
